BiH Karate Team – Most Successful BiH Team in 16th Mediterranean Games in Pescara
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian national karate team won one silver and two bronze medals in the 16th Mediterranean Games in Pescara
In the 16th Mediterranean Games held in Pescara, Italy, on the first day of competitions bronze medals were won by Edin Muslic, in the category up to 60 kg, and Arnela Odzakovic, in the category up to 68 kg.
The most successful BiH female athlete, who won gold in the previous 15th Mediterranean Games in Almeria, Spain, reached the medal by beating Serbia’s representative and incumbent world champion representing France, and then beating Egypt’s representative in repechage, defeated only by a Greek competitor.
On the second day of competitions, Merima Softic won second place and silver medal in the category +68 kg.
On her path to the finals, Merima beat representatives of Spain and Cyprus. In the final match, she was defeated by a representative of Egypt.
Mirsada Suljkanovic, Dijana Okanovic, Una Selman, Tarik Lusija, Alem Kupusovic and Oliver Mandaric also competed in the 16th Mediterranean Games.
