Arnela Odzakovic Wins Gold in 8th World Games

The most successful BiH female athlete and member of Sarajevo’s Karate Team Bushido won the gold medal in fights +60 kg in the 8th World Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In the first round she beat Senegal’s representative 2:0 and then Taiwan’s representative 4:1. She tied the next match with Russia’s Podborodnikova 0:0.
In the semi-finals she beat Germany’s Spaner 1:0, and in the final match she won against incumbent world champion Fanjat from France 4:1.
The gold medal in the World Games is the top result of Arnela’s career and BiH karate in general and it is also Karate Team Bushido’s best result.
The 8th World Games were held under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee. They were closed on July 26, 2009.
